Rain ruined the experience
It was raining while I was driving the road along the lake so the views weren't fantastic. However, the autumn colours were all along the road, even on the little island in the middle of the lake.

Smelt fishing
snowing and strong wind today ,didnt get any smelt fish a bit boring. Our group didn't get any one smelt fish today.

Leisure drive and spectacular views during autumn foliage
had been there for 3-4 times before but this time we drove around the lake. There are many smaller lakes/marshes dotting this big lake, and these are all worth visiting. If time does not allow, take a 1-hr ferry trip. The pier is on the southern rim. Opposite to it is the entrance to the Goshiki-numa, another famous koyo attractions in this area.
