Portree Harbour, The Hebrides, United Kingdom

This is a little piece of heaven.

We arrived late afternoon , found our rooms and then went for a little walk. The views over the harbour are second to none and with deep red clouds and the setting sun we were smitten. Also a lovely area to have a wander during the day , stock up at the CoOp and drift around looking at souvenir shops.

    Lovely surroundings...Poor hospitality.
Portree is in a lovely position with the gorgeous scenery of Skye everywhere but don't expect a quality stay. Most of the restaurants require you to queue in the street and await a table and the many chippies in the village offer over priced fish and chips in polystyrene boxes whether sitting in or take away. Lots of people wandering around aimlessly in the evening looking for food options. Not a great advert for Scottish hospitality...

    Not as in the "photos"!
Be warned! this photo which appears on many cards etc was taken from the hill which overlooks the harbour. today, part of the view is spoiled by a large canvas tent covering a couple of buildings, making an identical photo being taken impossible. its a lovely quiet unspoiled harbour, quaint and well worth having a walk around. The town is quite pleasant too with a number of eateries depending upon your budget.
