One of the Best New Wineries in the Hill Country

Of the many new wineries dotting the Texas Hill Country landscape, this is one to watch! Laura and Karl combine their passion for wine with Laura's qualifications as a chemist and Karl's work as a world-class award-winning chef. The tasting room is cozy, set in the middle of a beautiful plot of land (now being prepped for planting estate-grown varietals) just off Highway 290 near the town of Hye. Warm, friendly hospitality and fresh-grilled food is offered, and it's fun to learn about Texas terroir and wines from Laura. I tasted 6 wines here - all excellent. The Hyeland White Blend holds its own against the big names in Napa: combining French, Italian and Spanish varietals (all grown in Texas of course) into a beautifully refreshing white with strawberry and peach notes and a tart citric acidity. The Mourvedre is also wonderful: very light but with full red fruit on the palate and a long finish. A delightful winery to which I look forward to returning!

    Nice wines and people.
Went to this very small winery for the first time. Wines were consistently pleasant and competently made. Nice staff though not able to answer some of my questions. Still, a pleasant tasting and enjoyable wines. Good as a walk in tasting.

    3 stars is being generous
Our driver took our group of 12 here for a quick bite to eat between wine tours...the live music was nice and we had the place to ourselves. Unfortunately, the very limited menu was limited further due to them being out of 2 of the 6 items available. We spent more than an hour waiting for everyone to get their orders and ultimately 3 people in our group had to take their food to go so we didn't miss our next stop! I don't normally leave subpar reviews and I hope this is just a on off experience. If you have a group planning on finding somewhere to eat, I would check out somewhere else or at least call it in so they don't get backed up by 6 sandwiches, 4 personal pan pizzas and a salad. The location is serene, the server very helpful with describing the wines, and very near some wineries for proximity.
