    Pleasantly surprised
I have lived in White Settlement Texas for 44 years. I have driven past it thousands of times. The other day I decided to stop in and take a look. I could not believe how much stuff they had in that building to tell us all about history. The lady that was working in there was very helpful could explain just about anything it was almost like our own private tour. I suggest if anybody is close to white settlement and can stop and look at this place it would be well worth it. I personally spent about 2 hours in there and lost track of time.

    Great stepping back in time.
Decided to brave the weater and go to the White Settlement Historical Museum today. I was in for a real treat as The Texas Porch Lizards were performing. The lizards play a variety of period music from Irish, British, early American, and Civil War. After the show I was given the tour of the museum by the caretaker of the place. She showed me the history of White Settlement from its humble beginning of farmers to what it is today. I learned among other things the name of the city came from the Indians who called everyone that was not Indian "White." I strongly recommend this and other places like this where history comes alive
