If it wasn't closed, it was bought out
The lifeguards at the lazy river spent over an hour flirting across the river, and ignoring horseplay, trash throwing, and blatant rule breaking. Another lifeguard was literally nodding off, head in his hands, at his post at the bottom of the slides. We had 3 day passes for the family, and after it was closed Monday and Tuesday (fine, it's off season), it was bought out for the majority of open hours by end of school groups. Thursday had a warning posted about the buy out. So, we went during the open hours. But Friday did NOT have signs posted, and we showed up for our third day and were smilingly rebuffed. No. NOT ok. The one with warnings I can handle - but no signs? I was looking on Wednesday AND Thursday for any such warnings. Nada. Zilch. Nothing. Very, very displeased. The slides were fun, though the lethargic attendant for the top slides had minimal to no apparent interest in communicating whether things were safely clear for the next person. And the bathrooms were disgusting. Off season or not, they should be regularly attended. The park itself is enjoyable, and my kids had an absolute blast on the TWO days we were able to go out of our three. But, if my kids were any younger, I wouldn't feel safe having them there. They could have bled out on the ground, and the napping, flirting, dispassionate, ill-attentive guards wouldn't have noticed a thing.

We love the Villages Water park. My kids are now 11, 13 and 15. We have been visiting the villages for about 5 years. We always enjoy it here. That being said, the lifegaurd staff is made up of young teenagers with very little work ethic. I always try to keep an eye on my kids and would advise you to do the same. The water is heated in the winter months, but since they are closed Monday and Tuesday you will find the water to be a bit chilly most of the day Wednesday. If the staff was a little more on top of things I would give it a five. Oh there is also a place area for younger kids with your supervision. I would say for the price, you get your money's worth. You can come and go all day, and while you can't bring food inside, you can bring a cooler and picnic outside of the water park area.
