Great Visit on a Quiet Tuesday in early May!!
We live in Tyler and enjoyed a Wonderful visit to our beautiful state park on a quiet Tuesday in early May. Walked the Whispering Pines Trail (took 55 minutes to walk the loop) and part of the Lakeshore Trail. Highly recommend to visit on a quieter weekday in April, May, September or early October.

Texans are afraid of the dark
Quiet, beautiful setting around a manmade (CCC) lake. The hiking trails are incredible; there is something for every kind of hiker. We camped in Area 3. We decided Texans are afraid of the dark. I've never seen so many strings of lights in a campground. The group across from us is splashing the whole campground with one of those irritating, rotating Christmas lights that fling little lights everywhere. No campground host ever visible and there are two here!
