Don't Drive Past This...It's a Little-Known (But Important) Incident
The bitter rivalry between "North" and "South" during the Civil War was played out when a group was slaughtered for having differing views from others. There's more to the story than that, but stopping by this monument is a moving experience and one worth making time for. The violence should not be forgotten. You don't have to care about history to understand that passion for an idea can be deadly.

Serene Visit
While visiting Comfort for the afternoon, we stopped by to visit this memorial. It is well kept and has not only a historical marker but two other plaques with history of the area. There are several benches in the shade of huge oak trees to sit and take in the breeze and contemplate what German Settlers experienced. We even so an Axis deer stroll by in the area. It is easy to locate about a block off of the main highway. A very serene and relaxing stop off and nice to have a memorial for the area.
