The Last Drive-In Picture Show, Texas, United States

4.5 (38 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Gatesville Movie Theaters

Rare gem in Gatesville

The first time I visted this place was in the 1990's. The Last Drive-In Picture Show is a landmark in Central Texas. Nowhere else can you take a carload of people to view two new releases for $10. Even the concession prices are amazing. We got 1 large popcorn for us & 3 small popcorns for the boys for only $10!! We even brought our own cooler full of drinks and candy. Try that at one of the new theaters in the area. The last time we went to the movies in Killeen, the five of us saw one movie and we shared a large popcorn & two large drinks (almost $50 total). If you don't stay for the second show, you still get a great deal for your money AND you help keep a little slice of Americana alive.

    I LOVE This Place
It may look run down but I do not want to go anywhere else to see a movie. The Walk-In which is located in the same place is $5.00 for adults and $2.50 for kids, seniors, and military. Weekend and Summer Hour Prices are $2.50 for everyone before the evening showing. The Drive-In is $10.00 A CAR LOAD not per person. 99% of the time they show two movies (I am not talking about B-Movies) for the $10.00 a car load. People come from all around the area. We bring a small BBQ Grill and have a cook out, or we bring sandwiches, or whatever we want because they allow you to bring in coolers. The only thing missing is a playground but I understand the insurance problem they can run into if a child gets hurt on the playground. However, on the weekend they have a Putt Putt Golf for $1.00 across the drive. Most people show up early on weekend to get a good parking spot and go play golf or bring toys for the kids to play with. Aside from camping this is our favorite thing to do in the summer. Especially when they have the Dusk to Dawn movies. For $10.00 a car load you can watch at least 5 movies from Dusk to Dawn. We would bring sleeping bags and air mattress for the kids to sleep on. I just love this place.

Me and mine love this place
We have never had a bad time at the drive in. You can call it a dump or whatever but find another one close by. Yeah the place is old but two movies for 10 bucks a car load?? Find that at the Cinergy. I love this place hands down.
