The Cottonland Castle, Texas, United States

Worth a Drive By ...

A few minutes from downtown Waco, and certainly unique for the neighborhood (known as “Castle Heights”). It looks like a castle ... and hasn’t been accessible to the public in the recent or distant past. Neighborhood is an easy 5-10 minute drive through, with some nice homes, landscaping, and big trees.

    Neat history
Had read about this place online and although it is not open to the public and is privately owned and under renovation, I wanted to take in the history of it and architectural style. It was easy to find at the corner of Austin Ave. and S. 33rd St. and does have a rock/wire fence around the property and signage about private property. There were workers there the day we walked by and we did not disturb them but again just wanted to see the building. The building really does look like a small castle and it would seem to have a lot of potential for many uses or even to open to the public with the history as it would be neat to see the inside of it too. It does have a historical marker in the front area. We were easily able to drive from here straight to downtown Waco and also walking distance of older Castle Heights neighborhood.

    Waco Attractions
It was kinda cool to find this in a Texas town. Would be interested in being able to go inside. My husband lived in Waco as a child and never knew it was there.
