Fantastic place in Canadian

The best museum in the panhandle! The building is amazing and full of art, history, and artifacts. The staff is so helpful. They are knowledgeable and have a genuine desire to educate and assist. We visited during the Rembrandt exhibit and could have spent hours studying them. This is worth the time to tour and visit while in the Panhandle.

What a wonderful place! Such ART!
I did not know this would be as good a tour as it turned out to be. The Abrahams have collected magnificent works of art that could easily be at home in the finest art galleries in the world. Their interior design sense it impeccable. We were lucky enough to be touring the one day of the year the Abrahams also open their current residence to the public--Hill Crest. We were very surprised to find both Dr. and Mrs. Abraham at home talking to all the visitors and enjoying every minute of it. We were there for the Canadian Fall Foliage Festival 2015.

    Amazing-A Gem
Originally built as a Baptist church in 1910 and nearly demolished in 1977, the property was purchased by a local doctor and his family for $15,000 and converted into a home. The 8000 sq. ft. Mansion is filled with art, sculpture, and artifacts collected from the family's travels around the world. You first go to the visitor center where an introductory video is shown before you leave on your tour. I arrived when they opened at 11:00 AM and was the only visitor so had a private tour with Carly as my guide. Hand wands are available for additional info. Priceless artwork and antiques are everywhere. Stained glass windows from the days as a church and elegant tilework were just two of the many customized features. My favorite room was the main living area where a custom made floral circular rug was amazing. The home is two stories but the second level is not wheelchair accessible. Outdoors are beautiful landscaped gardens and more sculptures. Be sure to check the hours and days the Citadelle Mansion is open as you do not want to miss it. I stayed about two hours. It is the kind of place you want to linger and take everything in. It is so unique, it is hard to describe.
