Pleasant little train ride through beautiful Texas forest

Pleasant little train ride through beautiful Texas forest
We did the Texas State Railroad tour today and were very pleased. Sure, there's no exciting pre-show and no staged train robbery; it's just a relaxing time on the train. The trip from Rusk to the Palestine station takes about 90 minutes; there you de-board, stretch your legs, get a quick lunch, visit the gift shop, then re-board for the return to Rusk. Along the way is a narration of the history of the Official Railroad of Texas, interspersed with Railroad songs and country music. The trip is so unhurried and relaxing. I highly recommend it.

Good experience but could use a few adjustments
We experienced the Galveston Polar Express in November 2022. Overall it was a very nice experience. The children were excited to ride the train and enjoyed the entertainment. They loved receiving the silver bell from Santa at the end. Things to improve on: 1) There were NO bathrooms available on the train and we did not know that until we arrived. That is a HUGE deal for some people and might sway their decision as to whether or not to purchase tickets. 2) We arrived 15 minutes before checkin because he weather was not great and the welcome our group and others who arrived received was NOT WELCOMING!!! The lady at the desk was eating, smacking loudly and telling everyone checkin would be in 15 min without offering asisstance to the growing crowd, as how to proceed into the small waiting space. 3) a better sound system for the show and music inside the terminal would have been nice, and asking EVERYONE to please sit on the nice rug that was huge, would have allowed everyone to see the acting and lead in to the train ride. only those in the very front could see.
