Be tempted by the Templin Saloon

It’s a fun bar in downtown Gonzales. Great service and perfect outside seating. They offer live music but play great music on the jukebox. We didn’t eat here but the beer is cold and the whiskey flows when you need it. My wife says they have the cleanest bathrooms in the county. Cool old school bar with plenty of nostalgia and atmosphere. Note to owners- Would like to have a corn hole game in the outdoor patio. Great TVs for golf and live sports. Perfect watering hole for the weary travelers. Pool tables in the back of the bar make it a fun nighttime destination. The staff were unloading ice from a pickup on the street. Ownership may want to upgrade the ice machine. Be sure to add this place to visit during your trip to Gonzales.

    Nice Spot
Stopped in tonight for beer, wings and pizza. This is one of the best places in Gonzales. Great service and food. We really enjoyed the wings, great sauce and size. Pizza is very good as well. Historic old bar with lots of character and spittoons on the floor. Nice stage and dance floor out back where they have live music all the time. Check it out!!!

    Fun place!
We stopped at Templin while visiting the area based on a pizza place recommendation from a local. We were not disappointed! Immediately upon entering, we were greeted by three different staff members and seated. We were asking about the history of the building and learned the saloon has only been reopened for a couple of months. Their menu only offers several different pizzas and salads at this time and they were excellent. Full bar service is available. While there, we were able to meet the owner and were given a tour of the various original furnishings (it was originally opened in 1906) including the original walnut standing bar and domino tables. At the time of our visit, they were in the process of completing an outdoor patio and stage for live music. Templin Saloon is what you vision an old Texas saloon should look and feel like. Kudos to the staff for their friendly service and to the owner for keeping much history of the building intact.
