    Gone Country
As foreign tourists, we always run the risk to incur tourist traps. I mean, many rodeos and other similar shows are tailor made for the tourist. That doesn’t make them necessarily bad, but at least not authentic. This doesn’t happen at the Tejas Rodeo in Bulverde. This is the real stuff, where the locals meet on saturday nights March to November to see the rodeo, eat, enjoy some live country music and dance. People come here in their cowboy boots and stetson hats, bring their family to an enjoyable night out. And there are so many young people. It’s an open-pro rodeo, non professional. They do the bull riding, cow-roping, and other shows, and kids are also welcome to sheep-riding, which is so much fun I rolled on the ground laughing. For us it was unbelievable that they sing the national anthem before the show, we never do that in Italy, it was very emotional. The rodeo takes 90 minutes and after that, you can have dinner at various spots. Brisket is, of course, the best way to fit in and look like a local. And then you can two-step or line dance with the live band. We really had the time of our lives and regret that something like that does not exist where we live.

Highlight of our trip to San Antonio! March 2021
We made our reservation for dinner at the steakhouse a few weeks in advance. So glad we did! The meal was excellent and our waitress was sweet! The KC steaks were perfect. Their queso was our favorite, and we ordered queso at many places during our trip. But don't worry if you can't eat at the steakhouse. The Rodeo had food and beers also! We hit up the gift shop and then enjoyed the rodeo! Loved the local feel! Prayer and patriotism at their finest. The crowd ranged from infants to the elderly and every age in between. Afterward, the band started and the locals danced the night away. Some kind young gentlemen invited us to give the 2-stepping a try and a few of us did! Such fun!! We loved how all the families hung out, enjoying the company, the beer, the food, and the music! As tourists, we felt like we lucked out in finding this local gem. We really felt like we experienced what being a Texan is all about! LOVED IT!
