    Hill Country Horseback Riding!!!
I surprised my wife with a weekend of wine tastings, shopping, dining out & horseback riding in the hill country!! Which was one of the highlights of our trip! Willie and his crew were very accommodating and made sure we were prepared for the ride. Every horse had previously been rescued after their race careers had ended. And each one had their own story. So we all got to know a little bit about the horse we were paired with. Anyway moving on to the actual trail ride. It was a blast! As we ascended and decended through the hills we witnessed beautiful hill country views! Very peaceful and relaxing! I recommend anyone who wants to create a more memorable experience besides wine tasting, food and shopping. Book a trip with Stricker trail rides, you won't be disappointed!

Great trail ride and an inadvertant lesson in integrity
Our family of eight did a wonderful 1 1/2 hour trail ride two days ago. Our youngest was seven, our oldest was 72. Willie carefully matched each rider to a horse appropriate to his/her size and riding ability. These are really great horses, some of whom have championship pedigrees. They are well trained to be aware of, and react to, appropriate commands using the bridle or your feet. I have been on several trail rides in my life, and my horse Spirit was absolutely the best horse I've even ridden. The ride itself is a beautiful walk through some spectacular Texas Hill Country scenery. The trail wound through both wooded and open areas, affording shade (welcome on our 98 degree day!) and great vistas. There are some fun steep areas for the horses to navigate, and occasionally the horses trotted. I know I was grinning throughout most of the ride! Willie made sure we all had a good ride. But we had an experience that also showed us that not only is Willie good with horses and with people, but he's a man of great integrity. While fumbling around with water and helmets and children at the end of the ride, I managed to leave my wallet on one of the tables at the start/end of the ride. I didn't recognize that it was missing until several hours and two stops later. We retraced our tracks after the ride and did not find it. I recalled having my wallet at the end of the ride, so assumed it wasn't at the trail location, but one of our group texted Willie to see if we'd left it there. Willie said he wasn't at the trail site, but he'd go back over and check, and he later texted us the great news that I had indeed left my wallet at the end of the ride. Because our lodging was over an hour away from Boerne, we couldn't just "pop back over" to pick it up then. Instead we set up a time and place the following day at a park area in Boerne for us to meet Willie. He got there way before we did, so had to just hang out in the hot weather until we arrived. He gave me my wallet and absolutely refused to take any reward at all from me, even though my carelessness had caused him quite a bit of time and effort. I really had tears in my eyes. Of course everything was in my wallet just as I had left if. So this wonderful man of great character and integrity is the man leading these terrific trail rides. My grandchildren not only got to have a very fun and unique activity, but they also got to see a really great example of the finest of human nature in Willie.
