State Farm Arena, Texas, United States

Awesome show

On our last night in Texas we caught a show with the family. Gabriel Iglesia was phenomenal. He had us rolling and crying at his crazy life stories. The StateFarm Arena itself is not huge at all. All seats are great. Now the prices at the concession stand are a little ridiculous, but if you are hungry or thirsty they are there for you. I didn't like the fact that the ushers were standing by the stairs and lighting peoples eyes when someone would get up for a reason. I was getting irritated every time he flashed my eyes. The arena needs to install little blue lights so people can watch their steps in the dark and that would eliminate the ushers with the flashlights flashing ones eyes. Oh they can stand there but please turn flashlights off.

    Useful Info For 1st Timers
After living in the Valley for a little while I've found that quite a few Valley residents don't know about State Farm Arena. I've now been to a few concerts, Borderfest, Gabriel Iglesias, and a Vipers game at the arena. It's actually a great medium-small venue for music and hoops. Parking is extremely easy; even at the sold out Gabriel Iglesias show, we were still in and out in a matter of minutes. There's no need to show up much before tip-off or a show, which is nice if you're grabbing some food in McAllen beforehand. Parking for the Vipers game was free... I think it might have been a couple bucks at the concerts but I don't remember. The food/drink options at the arena are pretty bad and expensive, eat beforehand. PS - At Vipers games, the ushers don't pay too much attention to your tickets. No need to buy the expensive seats. Just be a little sneaky and sit where you want.

Decent views from wherever you sit...but pretty small venue
This venue serves the RGV and hosts a couple of minor league sport teams. One of them (RGV Vipers - NBA D-league) is moving to a bigger arena. While you can see well pretty much wherever you sit, the place is a little dingy. Word of advice...go during Borderfest in March. Lots of good food, music, and rides.
