Love this place!
We stayed just outside of town at the Local Chapter on a visit to Big Bend National Park. We ate dinner at 3 of the local restaurants and the Starlight was by far the best! While the others were good, the Starlight had a nice atmosphere, great food, and a bar. Plus the adjacent gift shop and surrounding area was interesting to visit while waiting for our table. Across the street we saw rabbits and a roadrunner, plus you can walk among some of the ghost town ruins. At the end of the building they have several bird feeders which made for an entertaining watch. Also, the gift shop, which closed at 8, had a ton of stuff and an excellent book section. We ordered a variety of dishes and all were delicious! We had the bbq, salad with shrimp, pork and tacos. The story of the theater was interesting and added to the ambiance. Wait staff was a little slow, but they were super busy. Loved this place!

Worth the Wait!
We arrived after watching the sunset in nearby Big Bend Ranch State Park, only to find that the wait was well over an hour. We got on the waitlist and killed some time. When we were seated, their service was outstanding. The chicken fried antelope and Texas quail dishes were excellent! Generous portions and with house-made sides. The atmosphere was great and the building’s history was a neat way to end our week in Big Bend country.

The Only Place in Town
There are a couple of other restaurants in Terlingua, but this is the only one worth going to. During the busy season you need to line up about a half hour before it opens at 5 or the wait will be hours. I ordered the mixed grill with the filet and it was wonderful. The quail was excellent. Te sausage was also pretty good. There was enough food on my plate for 2 people, and I felt like I had another person on my shoulders the next morning when we went hiking the next day, but that may have something to do with the margaritas as well.
