    Revamp and Remodel
We had not been here in a while and heard new owners were revamping and remodeling the place so we decided to go see what was going on. Traveling on Hwy. 27 from Comfort as you leave town headed to Centerpoint you need to watch for the small signage on the left to turn left. We've missed it and if you are coming in from Centerpoint there is no sign facing that direction so it is easy to miss if you don't know the area. Then as soon as you turn off Hwy. 27 you will turn right on Mill Dam Rd. which is a narrow country road and travel about 4 miles to the winery on the right. We stopped in on a Friday afternoon and immediately saw work being done at the entrance and the fields and parking area. They have a nice stone path walkway and a small fountain now. During this COVID social distancing, they have a small area set up right in front of the building to serve you wine by the glass or bottle and you can also order from a short menu of items. The wine choices are a nice selection starting at $20 and up a bottle and $7 and up for a glass. There is also construction going on to the building and the outside areas but nothing that interfered with our visit. We bought a bottle of their Viognier ($27) and found a shaded spot on the patio by the water. The metal tables are spaced out nicely so you don't feel jammed up. They also have a large green turf area with seating, a large covered pavilion as well as rock buildings and maybe another pavilion area. We didn't walk the property to see all the new structures but could tell work was going on all over to create a even more unique and enjoyable setting. We enjoyed the wine and have had other wines from here that were also very good. At any given time during our visit there were at least six other couples/small groups coming and going and all were spaced well. There is still the little tree loft that seats two overlooking the water. We would have enjoyed a simple appetizer of chips/queso, avocado or spinach artichoke dip but this might not go with the theme of the menu items they do offer. Even a bread or cracker/pesto appetizer maybe. We will be back though to see the progress completion and order food next time to review that as well.

    Always a Nice visit.
Recently we met friends here on a Sunday mid afternoon. Parking was no issue as they have a very large gravel parking area. They offer different settings of seating (under small patio, under large pavilion, patio table umbrella seating in yard and the deck seating overlooking the pond. We initially sat in the yard but with four of us at a table, the umbrella only shaded two of us and the other two were in the sun. So we moved to the deck seating which has shade and filters sunlight. The pavilion seating is nice with a breeze too but once the music starts up it is difficult to talk over it sometimes. We ordered the Chicken Spinach Pesto Flatbread ($18) and it was very good. The others ordered a different flatbread ($18) and a chicken salad and both enjoyed that as well. The pricing on the food and wine has increased since our visit last year. A bottle of Chardonnay was $38 and a glass with a minor pour was $12. The bottle was a better choice. This selection was very refreshing on a warm day and went well with our meal as well as just to enjoy. Since we do not live in the area, we only make it out maybe twice a year. Each time we go we try a different wine as they do not always have the same selections from time to time. We have enjoyed most all but we do not drink the sweet ones. The entire set up is very clean and enjoyable. There are usually a few small kids there but they have things to keep them busy and if you sit in the deck area, it is 21 and older which makes it nice. They do allow dogs on leashes as well. This is our favorite vineyard in this area.
