    Great Birding
We went on a birding walk at Santa Ana along with a group of about a dozen visitors. We saw 63 species of birds and learned a lot about the birds, local wildlife, and also about native vegetation. Our leaders, Sue and John, were knowledgeable as well as patient and enthusiastic. Ann makes sure everyone has an opportunity to see through the scope she sets up. Loaner binoculars are available for visitors. There are places to eat a picnic lunch at the park, near the visitors center.

Tram is inexpensive and a good experience
We took the tram ride around the park. A trained volunteer rides along and explains some of the history, features, flora, and fauna. This is a way to get to see more of the park than what many people could do just walking. If possible be sure to walk the the hawk tower to get a bird's-eye view of the park. Though the park attracts a lot of bird watchers, it interesting to a broader group of outdoor enthusiasts,
