La placita de los Gartos.

In the middle of the plaza, is a beautiful water fountain with an alligator statue. It commemorates when the Plaza had real alligators in the 1960s. The plaza is beautiful and surrounded by the old buildings now being revitalized, some built by Trost. Take your time...go back in time....ride the trolleys brought back to El Paso from the 40's.

San Jacinto Plaza in Downtown El Paso
The plaza was known as Plaza de los Lagartos due to live alligators residing at the pond right in the middle of the plaza. Tables available to play chess, maybe you prefer horseshoe or ping pong. It is a popular place to visit. Wedding and sweet sixteen parties have photos taken. It always must visit during the WinterFest celebration every year, starting at the lighting of the tree. Enjoy fine restaurant close by and the night life is nice and safe.

    Nice Place for a Stroll
A quaint plaza in the middle of Downtown El Paso. A nice place to go if you want to just walk around, stretch, and maybe some alone time. Saw some sidewalk cafés and restaurants along the square, but not much past that.
