Great Texas history museum

If you want to learn how Hunstville and even Texas was shaped by a few men then this is the museum for you. The artifacts and memorabilia is astounding for a museum this small so that alone makes it extremely interesting. Seeing the tools and weapons of that age in person is riveting if you're into that kind of historical fodder. Won't disppoint!

    Lots to see
We visited this complex recently to learn more about Sam Houston. It is quite a large property with cabins and homes on the property in addition to the museum. We enjoyed roaming the trails looking at the buildings and since it was a Saturday, there were some demonstrations too. One was the blacksmith shop which showed us how a square nail was made and the other was a woodworker showing us how a wooden chair was made. We also enjoyed the museum. Here's a hint on entering the complex: enter the actual Memorial Museum (rotunda) to pay your fee. We made the mistake of paying at the Education Center and had quite a walk to see the museum and cabins.
