Rio Grande River trip

Enjoyable trip on the Rio Grande River. We watched while sections of a wall was quickly being erected. We learned this was a private wall that was being completed at a fraction of the cost and in a fraction of the time compared to the federally ordered wall. Very interesting.

Rio Grande River Cruise Gives a Different Perspective of Mexico
An interesting way to see Mexico. Also an interesting way to enter Mexico without steping foot into it. This river curise goes up and down the Rio Grande River. It was a pleasant way to spend an hour. For $12 per person at least for the hour cruise it was a decent value. Bring cash as they only take cash payment for the tickets. We say enter Mexico because part of the Rio Grande flooded over Mexico when they installed the dam so you float over it. The River Boat captain gives a lot of information. Not sure how up to date he was on everything. Seemed that there was at least one area we know he sensationalized on and was not factual in his presentation. That begs to question about what else was inaccuate. Overall it was a pleasant hour spent on the water. Another tip: If we were doing it again we would sit in the middle aisle or the left side of the boat looking towards the captain. We sat on the right side and had to be turned on our side the whole hour to observe what was being identified. Worhty of $12 and an hour of your time. Not sure we would have enjoyed longer than the hour cruise.

    Interesting
The boat is covered and has huge windows so can accommodate any weather. There is both a one hour and two hour tour. We went on the one hour and that was plenty. Lots of nice development on the Mexican side of the river. You will see U.S. border patrol stations and agents along the river. And one Mexican patrol boat that is a swamp style airboat. The guide points out the “hiding areas” the drug smugglers and human traffickers use which are not only evident but have deflated rafts pulled up part way on the shore. The tour includes seeing a privately built wall being constructed on the U.S. side The tour boat is clean and safe. Staff friendly. The boat also has a restroom and concession area. If they say the tickets are sold out, some people don’t make it. Reservations recommended. But we just showed up, waited, 6 people failed to show and we got on for less than the advertised price.
