Surprised by Wildflowers
While en route to San Antonio on 4/13/19 this cemetery caught our eye in Menard, Texas because it was positively carpeted in wildflowers. On the way home later that day we made it a point to stop and explore Pioneer Rest. We were not disappointed. We first parked on a side street and walked around. Then we drove in and completed the loop. NOTE- there are rough spots so a 4WD is preferable. At top in the back we found old graves of Texas Rangers. This is a beautiful spot worth the time to explore.

Lots of very interesting old headstones
After self-touring Presidio De San Saba, my husband and I spent some time in historic downtown Menard and drove through the Pioneer Rest Cemetery. The Cemetery has many interesting/very old headstones and there were wild flowers everywhere.
