Pine Springs Visitor Center, Texas, United States

4.0 (85 reviews) Spent Ranking #4 in Guadalupe Mountains National Park Visitor Centers

Beautiful slice of Texas

There are various displays with the local flora and fauna inside. The rangers were very helpful, there is a small gift shop, and a trail at the visitor center with some beautiful mountain scenery. We had an annual parks pass, so it made the stop worthwhile. Various hiking trails in the area. Spring flowers in bloom near El Capitan. Can be very windy in the area. Not a very busy National Park by any means.

    Nice visit and hike
We hiked the Smith Spring Loop Trail. It's 2.3 miles r/t and starts at the Frijole Ranch Trail head. It's uphill to Smith Spring but the hike is classified as easy/moderate. We're in our 60's and didn't have any trouble with the hike. The views are lovely and Smith Spring is a nice place to stop for a quick snack. We also stopped at the Frijole Ranch History Museum and found it interesting. This is a small part of the Guadalupe Mountains but we enjoyed the hike.

    Incredible Scenery
We arrived about noon on a Saturday in mid March. You have to pay $10 to park. The visitor center is very small and sells some souvenirs and books. There are people there to answer questions. There are restrooms available and there is a shot path where you can get some great photos of the mountains but, unless you are planning on hiking some of the trails it's really not worth the $10 to park.
