Old Post Office Museum and Art Center, Texas, United States

4.5 (26 reviews) Tuesday: Spent Ranking #1 in Graham Art Museums

1939 WPA Mural "Oil Fields of Graham" alone is worth seeing

This 1939 Post Office, directly across from the County Courthouse on the square, is a perfect compliment to the County Courthouse of the same era. The "Oil Fields of Graham" by Alexandre Hogue is restored and in good condition. According to Philip Parisi's "The Texas Post Office Murals", Hogue completed the mural in the study of his friend (and fellow mural artist) Jerry Bywaters. In the 1980's the U.S. Post Office sold the building to the City of Graham, which now uses it as a historical museum. Well worth a visit.

    Pleasant Surprise
Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this museum and gift shop in Graham, TX. My cousin took us here while we were visiting them. Nice old post office building. Great venue for artist to be featured. Inside the building is wonderful. Museum gift shop is top notch with some wonderful items to purchase. Museum has some historical memorabilia. Well worth a visit

    Probably the friendliest museum
Visited on a Monday and the moment we went in a couple of ladies working there came and told us loads of interesting information whilst guiding us round the museum. Exceptional collection of Spurs, we didn't realise how much effort goes into making them. Lots of old photos of Graham showing its rich history as a cattle and oil rush town.
