Historic jail from 1912's

We like to see historic buildings, and this one is very unusual and interesting. It is definitely worth stopping to see, just a short block to the west of the Jourdanton County Courthouse. The "Old Atascosa County Jail" was used as the county jail between 1916 and 1982. It has 3 floors, with the bottom floor having been used as residence for Sheriff and family. The 2nd floor has a gallows with a trap door.
