Great Beer and Knowledgeable, Friendly Staff

Cool, layed-back venue with excellent brews. The bartender carefully described each style and made recommendations based on what we usually drink. We did a five beer sampler and one or both of us liked all five. No food but usually hosts a food truck. Dog friendly. Big mix of seating options including standard tables, high tops and couches.

    Tip O' the Mug
This is a brew house. Not a coffee beer place, that's across the street, not a bar and grill, those are on the loop. No, this is the closest thing Longview has to offer to a public house where the community can come together and enjoy the company of friends, old and new. They do have special events in the way of trivia, improv comedy, live music and theology on tap. Check the schedule for these events. The beer is the focus and selections change from time to time. If your not sure what you like ask for a sample taste or order a flight with small samples of the various brews. There will be something to your liking. Just don't go in with the anticipation of ordering a Bud Light or Lone Star, because you'll be surely out of luck!

Good spot to relax in an otherwise extremely sleepy downtown.
Stopped into Oil Horse Brewing Co. on my way through Longview for a quick beer and a little laptop work, and was pleasantly surprised by this little spot. You'll miss downtown Longview if you blink too quickly, but this spot (and the coffee shop across the street, Silver Grizzly Espresso) are two establishments that keeps Longview from being an absolute drive-through town. The bartender wasn't the most loquacious, but whatever, I wasn't there to chat it up. He recommended the 1877 Irish Red when I told him I like everything other than IPAs, and it was a solid recommendation. If I lived in Longview, this would be my Cheers. If ever I'm driving through Longview again and need a quick beer, this will be my go-to, and I'll recommend it to others for sure.
