Midland Downtown Farmer's Market, Texas, United States

4.0 (3 reviews) Tuesday: Spent Ranking #14 in Midland Farmers Markets

Fun, local farmer's market

Farmer's markets are just getting started in the West Texas area and this is the best one I have visited. Has a good combination of fresh produce, meats, baked goods along with stands for fresh ground coffee, spices, goat cheese products, baked goods and craft items. There is a children's activity area, live music provided by local individuals and groups, along with different food trucks every week and information provided by the local Master Gardener. One of my new favorite booths is the micro-greens provided by a local producer. It is held on the grounds of the Museum of the Southwest and seems very well organized and runs smoothly each time I have visited. They also have special activities that include local authors, health services, etc.

    Not just for farmers!
Most weekends you can find the same vendors coming back. Unlike some farmers markets, this one is not limited to only farmers selling their produce. Some things I have purchased from the Midland Downtown Farmer’s Market: artisan breads, local honey, strawberry/cranberry jam, jalapeño salsa, chili mix, dill mix, hatch chili cheese bread, lemon/blueberry scones, pecan sandies, chocolate banana nut bread, organic face soap & lotion, memoirs, goat cheese, free-range eggs, watermelon, cantaloupe, pumpkin, collards, tomatoes, squash and other things I’m sure. Get there before 10:30am to have the best variety because most vendors sell out their local favorites before then.

    Not really a Farmers Market
It was a pleasant walk around, but most of the booths were crafts and other non produce items. It was interesting and the wares for sale were fun to see. Just not what I was expecting.
