Could be better... But

They are doing a great job of adding to it little by little. The trails could improve. Workout equipment along the trials could be better plus it would be great if they added a section of outdoor workout equipment up top. Little by little could get better but not much push.

    So much potential
The "lake" is where everyone goes to exercise in the mornings and evenings, have pate sales and various fundraisers, some small public concerts, play baseball, softball, teeball, have a livestock show, and the elderly nutrition center is located there. There is also a playground and a children's water park. Public restrooms, plenty of seating. So much potential for this place, as it is in the center of Eagle Pass, and on the main roads. Yet, it has been sitting and going to waste. The playground equipment is old, the WW2 monuments (Plane & helicopter) are decrepit, the birds and ducks leave feces all over the tables. The drivers in EP go both directions, even though there are signs that say that it is a one-way. So much potential is lost on this place. But, if you decide to go, early in the morning is the best time to go. Crisp mornings, ducks just chilling, no traffic or crazy drivers, occasional runners. Also, DO NOT FEED the ducks.

Not Very Pretty But a Good Place to Walk
We stayed with a dog in a motel adjacent to the park so it was very nice to be able to have quick and easy access to the park for walking. The park shows a good deal of wear from the local climate and from being heavily used. Trash is often left behind on tables and the grounds by park users. County staff try to keep it clean but the picnic tables and benches are long overdue for a serious power washing. Not all pet owners pick up after their pets which is unfortunate and not a good sign for the water quality in the lake. The park is home to wild birds, ducks, and geese. All in all, it’s a good place to walk yourself and your dog, but not great for a picnic.
