wow what an experience

I drove over 620 miles (Round trip) to ride on this ferry the boat itself is a bit rickety but still safe the staff were very helpful and interesting the whole experience was well worth the 620 miles to see and cross in this fashion

    Only hand powered ferry in the USA
    If you want a little adventure this is it. Follow the signs to the ferry and the road meanders through some village type subdivisions. Not once were we scared are felt unsafe. At the crossing there is custom/border patrol. You can park and walk onto the ferry or you can drive your car on the ferry. We opted to pay a dollar each and walk down to the river bank to take pictures, we did not go across the river. There were a lot of local traffic using the ferry and the ferry can only accommodate 2 or 3 cars at a time.

    A true time capsule experience
    Went across for a day trip explore to Mexico, it was a real treat, you can grab a rope and pull if you have a mind to. Be aware of the hours of operation, we came back to a closed up ferry and had to go back the long way!
