Adorable museum filled with goodies!

We were passing by this town on the way to San Antonio and decided to stop by the Longhorn Museum. It was free with obviously a donation box and it was definitely worth the stop. For a small town museum it was packed with artifacts, old fashioned exhibits, and history. The new windmill exhibit was open and it was nice. We spent about 45 minutes here. You could see it all faster or you could read about everything and stay much longer.

    A Hidden Jewel
Grouped together in sections, the Longhorn Museum offers views and impressions of city and country life mainly from the late eighteen hundreds. Included are numerous carriages, stage coaches and a horse drawn hearse. Also, a gun collection, and set ups showing house hold rooms. A restored railroad station and caboose is also featured. The museum staff is very friendly and helpful.

    A Very Pleasant Experience
We traveled out of San Antonio with a few of our grandkids to check this little museum out. We really enjoyed ourselves. So many different things to see - one could easily spend an entire afternoon there. There was something for everyone. Our 16 year old stated that the military displays and the authentic antique train car were his favorites. The 13 year old loved the period rooms that were set up and the 8 year old couldn't get enough of all the animal mounts. We had planned to eat a picnic lunch before heading back up to San Antonio and because it was such a cold and windy day the lovely women at the front desk invited us to eat in a back room before heading home. All around - a very pleasant experience.
