Life Long Ago

Today, each of the historic structures, furnished with authentic artifacts, provides a vivid look at life in the nineteenth century North Texas frontier. Each log house displays different aspect of pioneer life. The exhibits include a water-powered gristmill, a one-room schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop, an herb garden, and several log home settings. Historical interpreters, who are City of Fort Worth staff and volunteers, depict the lifestyle of the people who lived and settled the area in the mid to late 1800s.

TIME TRAVEL BACK TO THE 1840s AND 1850s
Very interesting time travel back to the mid-1800s. There are cabins and other buildings, including a gristmill and a one-room schoolhouse, collected from various parts of neighboring counties and collectively put here as though they were all part of the same community. You walk around, from building to building, at your own pace. Each building has a staff member in it to explain that building. Allow more than an hour to see everything if you engage in conversations with the staff members. I spent an hour and a half here. Parking is free, but there is a $5 admission fee. Well worth it.

    1900's Preserved Log Cabins
We visited the beautiful park and saw a lady sitting on the porch making a quilt so we had to go in and visit the village. Old pioneer homes that were salvaged and relocated to this area for display. Easy walking with interactive docents in each cabin that was decorated for the 1900's. Well worth the $5 admission.
