Awesome river trail for canoes and kayaks

Limestone Bluffs Paddling Trail is a canoe/kayak trail that starts at the picnic area boat ramp in Fort Parker state park and ends at Confederate Reunion Grounds State Historic Site (5.3 miles one way). This trail can be shortened 1 mile by starting at the Navasota River boat ramp in Fort Parker state park. My husband and I took the Limestone Bluffs Paddling Trail with our canoe. We put our canoe in at the Navasota River boat ramp. The river was not moving on our visit and there was a slight breeze. We made the 9 mile round trip in 4 hours and that included a 20 minute walk at Confederate Reunion Grounds State Historic Site. We saw lots of Great Blue Herons, Ingrids, turtles, 3 snakes, fish, beautiful canopies of trees and 6-15 foot Limestone Bluffs covered with foliage. There was a road bridge (30 feet above the water) near the half way point so we had an idea as to where we were. We loved the trail.
