A very old live oak.

Although the great live oak may have been overshadowed by a grander piece of flora, it's beauty still remains. Nestled on the edge of Columbus, Texas it is truly the soul of this small town. The parking limited, but comfortable can fit any sized vehicle and the tree itself stands proud and strong. I believe that if this tree dies, the soul of the town my surly perish. We must protect this great oak and value it for what it is. A landmark of history.

See it, but don’t use Google Maps.
Definitely worth a 10 minute stop. The limbs are amazing huge. Warning: don’t trust Google Maps, it leads you down a small dead end road with a fence between you and the tree. Stay on the main road through town. It’s tucked in off the road by what appears to be a private home.

It's a tree! A really BIG, really COOL tree!!!
OK, people. Here's the deal. It's a ginormous oak tree. It sounds really boring and silly to stop to see a tree, but it's SO not!!! The tree is really cool! It's really big and gnarled and the boughs and branches are giant and sprawling and they create this amazing canopy that is stunning. The branches are so big and long and heavy that they have these giant support beams holding them up. It's kinda weird that it has like 3 little, shallow parking spots, and it feels kinda like you're walking up into someone's yard, but it's still worth it. It's free, it's old, it's cool, it's nature, it doesn't take all day. And it's pretty. So pull over, walk around the tree, take a snapshot, and then be on your merry way.
