    BMT Graduation was amazing!
BMT graduation was amazing. A couple of good tips I wish I had known (we are from Iowa so we get cold). Our trip was Jan and while during the day is amazing, first thing in the AM is cold, really cold. Bring coat. Second, we arrived on the base Thursday for the coin ceremony, we recommend getting there at 6:30AM and parking at the Pfingston Reception Center. For Friday, get there at 7AM and we parked in the parking lot right by the walk over to the parade grounds. It was great - no traffic as if you parked by the parade grounds. Seats go very, very fast. So if you do not want to sit on the sides, get there early. For the seating, bring a coat or blanket to sit on - very cold seats. Also, do not buy into the whole "Great Steak Night" at Greenside Grill. It was awful, you cannot order how you want your steaks cooked and they do not go by the order you are in the door. It almost made our daughter late to check in. Food at the cafe's were crazy busy, i would recommend the bowling alley.

My brothers did basic training here
After a few phone calls we were able to gain access and visit the museums on the base as well as walk around the parade grounds and view all of the former aircraft used by the Air Force. Both of my brothers did basic training here and I was honored to have one of them with me who was able to explain certain features and historical items about the base. I think it brought back many memories for him. He is a Viet Nam vet and my hero. Sorry folks but I was an Army guy.
