Enjoy a Little-known History

The building at the entrance had a lot of great history shared in an engaging way. This history is one I did not previously know of and enjoyed learning about. We went on a hot day so we appreciated that they provided a cooler with water before you begin your trek out across the property. The main house, memorial, and smokehouse were all very interesting and I'm glad they've maintained land rights to enough space that you don't hear modern city life as you walk around the property. We did not walk all the way down to the brewery ruins, but the overlook makes it so you can still see them without needing to. On a cooler day (and if we'd had more time) we probably would have gone down. This place offers a lot of great options for photography as well.

Haunted Or Not You Be The Judge
Lovely park. We stopped en route to Austin for a short visit. Beautiful view and monument. Kreische brewery is one of the first in Texas. Built by a German stone mason from Saxony region near Czech border. You can walk the trails and see the old brewery ruins and take a peek into the doorways of the old home. The home is impressive and there are some furnishing actually owned by the family. I felt a little bit of a spooky vibe around the master bedroom, but was assured by the friendly park employee that the place is not haunted. You can be the judge. The day we visited (open on MLK day) we had the place pretty much to ourselves. As we approached the home it was dead quiet. Kind of a “go away” feeling as we approached. But we took a look in the room despite this. They sure had a beautiful view from the house.

What a lovely piece of property and interesting bit of history!
We really enjoyed stopping here. It was a lovely fall day and walking the grounds was truly enjoyable. The view from the bluff above the Colorado River was amazing. Loved the art nouveau look to the "battle monument" and the story that went with it. Peeking into the house was interesting and it was unfortunate that the family could not sustain the business once the father passed away and the sons took over. What a fun place that must have been... back in the day.
