    Super Golf and Spectacular Views
There are few courses in the area that have the combination of challenge and beauty as "Apple" (how the locals refer to it). Whether I go out for a quick nine in the afternoon or bring guests to play 18, I always have a great time. The entire course is beautiful but I think the best views are from the back nine. On some tees you just have to take a minute to soak in the view or you'll be tempted to peek during your swing. I'm not super skilled but there are tee boxes to accommodate my senior status and the design of the course gives me a run for my money without making me feel tortured or in over my head. And I know, regardless of where one plays, it's important to keep the ball in the fairway. Thank goodness most of the Applerock's fairways are fairly wide open because you don't want to tangle with the rough. It's scrub brush and very rocky and venturing too deep means you need to watch where you are stepping first and then find your ball second. My solution? Swing slowly, keep my head down and bring a couple of extra sleeves of golf balls. Like all the Horseshoe Bay courses, it is only open to resort members or those staying at the hotel or in one of the resort condos. But If you love the game and have just a modicum of skill, you will love playing Applerock and think the money and time spent is well worth it.

    Long and Difficult
Beautiful course and well maintained, but for your average senior golfer it is long and difficult even from the Executive Tees. Almost every hole was uphill with well guarded greens. Fun to play if you accept that your score will be higher than on your home course.
