Historic Downtown Hico, Texas, United States

4.5 (56 reviews) Spent Ranking #2 in Hico Neighborhoods

Worth more than one visit!

This is a cool little town with an interesting history. Be sure to visit the Hico Retrospective Museum, on the top floor of the old Petty Brothers Mercantile (as of this writing, the Blue Star Trading building) to learn more about its past. Fun shops and great places to eat, too! We will be back, definitely for a day trip and possibly an overnight.

    Enjoyable visit
We really enjoyed walking in this pleasant historical downtown area. My husband really enjoyed the Billy the Kid Museum and I enjoyed browsing in the shops. We bought some great popcorn at the popcorn shop and enjoyed delicious margaritas at the Mexican restaurant on the corner. It was an enjoyable day.

Cute Town Off The Beaten Path
We came to Hico for the day from DFW after seeing a show about it. It was a Monday and while some businesses were closed, it was a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of DFW. We went to the Hico Popcorn Works, the Billy the Kid Museum, the Wiseman House Chocolate store and Jersey Lilly's Restaurant. All the people we spoke with were very friendly and it has that "Main Street, USA" charm. We will be returning to explore more and had a great afternoon in Hico.
