Glider plane ride on a clear sunny day!!
It was great. I went up with a very knowledgeable pilot and had a lot of fun. I'd never flown in a glider before, and this was everything I expected and hoped for. I strongly recommend this to anyone interested in flight. The other personnel there were friendly and helpful, the tow pilot even lent me his hat, as I had forgotten mine!! A lovely experience that I will surely do again!!

Friendly volunteers, neat planes, makes a unique experience!
There are only 2 places in all of Houston where you can experience soaring or glider planes (engineless planes). They are only open on the weekends but call in advance to make sure they are flying as weather can disrupt their schedule. You can take an intro to gliding flight and if you like it you can take classes there to become a glider pilot. On clear days you can see into downtown Houston and out to the ships by Galveston. A very neat experience. They will take children up if they meet their minimum weight requirement. Something unique to do in Houston!
