Georgetown Art Center, Texas, United States

A cultural and historic icon in downtown Georgetown

Although this is a very small art center, it is one of my favorite places in GT. Each exhibit offers something new and interesting to enjoy and experience. Not all of the art is necessarily my "cup of tea" but I feel moved and intrigued with all of the offerings. The Art Center is housed in a historic building just off the Williamson County square. Originally the city of Georgetown’s city hall, jail, waterworks, and fire station, Firehouse Number 1 was transformed in a renovation in 2013. The Georgetown Art Center opened in October of 2013 and has been run by a dedicated staff of volunteers and the Georgetown Art Works nonprofit organization.

    Gem of a Gallery
Dedicated artists, art lovers, and volunteers brought the Center into being and keep it worth visiting. The changing exhibits have showcased excellent works, and the current exhibit has some exceptional pieces. Don't miss the Art Center when you visit the Georgetown Square. You'll find wonderful things in the small gift shop area, too.

    Nice gallery
I enjoy stopping by the Art Center every month or so. They rotate works of artists so there is always something new and imaginative. The art work is very high quality work. Most is not by local artists (I think) but by more nationally known artists. I've seen some incredible works of art here. Pieces are available for purchase though they are expensive (and worth it)
