Great Historic Park in Downtown Goliad !!

This is a nice tree covered park one block North of Goliad Town Square. A children's playground is located on the East side. The park features two historic cannons recovered from the Battle of Goliad. A memorial monument, in tribute to Fannin and his men, was added in 1882. This shrine is dedicated to the murder and sacrifice of Fannin and his men who surrendered to Santa Anna and his forces expecting fair treatment. "Remember Goliad, remember the Alamo !!"

    Remember the men of Goliad
When Fannin's men were massacred by Santa Anna's Army on the way to San Jacinto, they left them to the buzzards. Later the bones were taken to this site for a mass burial. Such atrocity led to the battle of San Jacinto where the cries of Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad, made Santa Anna remember at San Jacinto that it is not wise to mess with Texians.

Nice Place for Kids and Families to Take a Break
This park has an awesome fort type playground and picnic tables under the shady trees just a block off the Goliad County Courthouse square. Just a block from Hwy 59 in Goliad, Texas, it is a great place to take a break on a road trip. There are also a few historical monuments in the park. Public restrooms are a block away. A fast food restaurant is next door, so if you don't have a picnic, you can buy one.
