Expecting Texas & Mexican Heritage Trinkets & Souvenirs - found crap in the front but Quality in the back.
I was excited to stop at Saddleblankets and I wanted to bring back a Mexican blanket or rug to remember my trip to this beautiful region. I was disappointed to find row after row of Walmart quality imports from India and China. The prices were great but the quality not so much. Much of the turquoise necklaces and earings were just blue plastic, there was real stone jewelry but you really had to look to find it and I didn't appreciate the attempt at deception. The leather tack area was full of quality saddles and leathergoods but with leather belts from China. After an hour of browsing I was about to leave when I saw they had a building out in the back - I wish I had walked in their first. I was full of local artizen crafts and furniture , some of the most creative and colorful designs I have even seen. Mexican tile and chiminea representing the local's in fine fashion. If you stop here - go to the back first and you will not be disappointed.

    Not As Expected
Saw the ad for this store in an El Paso brochure. It showed a lot of stuff. I was disappointed when I got there. They had stuff, but some looked like antiques. I was trying to find turquoise (they had some but didnt look like the real stuff) and silver jewelry. I ended up getting a shirt on clearance for $2. In their defense, the staff did say the store was migrating to all internet business and closing. That might be why they didnt have as much inventory. They had southwest furniture and trinkets if you're into that. Thought the furniture was overpriced though.
