Had a great day there
There aren't many people around. We easily got the shade on a long weekend at 11:00 AM. There are a lot of trees and the lake is close to the shade, even the temperature was 96, we did not feel bad. There are grills, play areas, open fields, and trails. You will have the feeling of a rural state park right in the middle of the city. One thing, we saw two snakes during our stay. I think they roam freely since there aren't many people. They try to stay away from you, so no worries. If you are too scared, it's better to avoid then.

A quick break to enjoy nature
I went to Devine Lake Park to enjoy a morning run. I don't feel comfortable running on rural roads, so this was a great option to be outside and enjoy nature. The trail isn't very long (.63 miles), but it's easy to follow and goes in a circle. Parts of the trail are paved, and other parts are just a trail. The lake is shallow and not the prettiest, but there were some happy ducks. There was a nice playground, plenty of parking, and a restroom at the trailhead.

Meduim sized shallow lake. Oak trees, picnic tables, grills, playscape. Ducks.
My husband and I visited Devine Lake Park on a Monday afternoon. Central Texas had just had a big rain event so the lake was very full. The water is shallow and no swimming is allowed. The park had a couple trails (1/2 to 3/4 mile) and a parking lot for about 50 vehicles. There is an asphalt path from the parking lot to the lake. The park has lots of live oak trees, picnic tables, grills, one covered pavilion (with 3 picnic tables), nice restrooms, benches and a playscape. We were greeted by 8 hungry ducks. Two other families were in the park. One person was fishing but not catching anything.
