    Perfect day!
My husband I spent Memorial Day here and it was such a great day. The park was not overly crowded. We did a trail run around the lake and up to the "mountain view". Running around the lake was relatively easy. There was some muddy spots and a little bit of elevation change. Going up the mountain view was a little more challenging. It gets VERY steep near the top but it is worth it for the views. We paddle boarded after the run and that was wonderful too. Lots of lily pads with flower in bloom made it special. It was a great place to paddle board because there aren't boats racing around. This is a great little get away for peace and quiet. It looked like there were some nice camping spots and the restrooms were very clean.

    Family Friendly
This park is quiet, simple & gorgeous. We camped in Big Pine & kids were safe while riding bikes or walking. People drove slow & cautious. Rustling Leaves Trail is great for small children. The lake is small, clear & peaceful. We were disappointed the paddle boats wasn't available to rent. We saw very little wildlife. The restrooms were spotless with no odor. Nearby Hughes Springs is a hidden gem of a town.
