Magical and Whimsical. I felt like a Princess.

Next to the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the glass-enclosed butterfly habitat includes a simulated rainforest and thousands of colorful butterflies. A dramatic 50-foot waterfall and exotic plants transport visitors.

    Butterflies and more!
Fun place to visit with a three year old and for adults too! There is a museum with bugs, insects, spiders, and other crawly things on one floor. Spent about 15-20 minutes here. Most of the interactive exhibits are shut off due to pandemic but still much to see and explore. The museum is well done. Proceed into the mystical butterfly exhibit and be amazed at the sights, lovely floral scents, and relaxing waterfall. You will quickly be surrounded by butterflies. They say "don't touch them" because it may kill them, however I spent more time trying to dodge them so they wouldn't touch ME. There are many ramps and about 3 levels to explore. So many different varieties. Don't forget about the turtles! This exhibit is stroller/wheelchair friendly. Bathrooms close by. Afterwards take time to explore the many free things Hermann park has to offer! There is free 3 hour parking in all the lots so you can move car if needed.

    Cockrell butterfly center
Cockrell butterfly center is located in the Houston Museum of natural science. It's a beautiful center where you can not only see butterflies but also different insect species and a caged iguana and small turtle. It was nice, I just wish there were more variety of butterflies I kept seeing the same type of butterflies throughout the center. And like the museum, I highly recommend going during the week where there are less crowds.
