Great trails
My husband, a friend and I went to the Cibolo Nature Center on a Sunday in January. We love hiking the short trails (3 miles total) in the woods, along Cibolo Creek, in the prairie and on the boardwalk in the marsh area. On this trip, the boardwalk was closed due to maintenance. There are many Cypress trees along the creek. The center has a visitor and gift shop as well. There is no charge except for special events. We will be back.

Relaxing environment
We recently visited here as part of a community activity and had not been here in a while. They have kept this place in nice condition and added more since the last time we visited. There was plenty of parking and the area is nicely spread out for social distancing with several areas to enjoy. The picnic area is nicely shaded and close to the visitor center which had maps of the four trails. The trails are 1/2 mile to 1/3 miles in length with some a little more challenging along the creeks then others that are mulch type trails. The Marshland Trail is handicap-accessible. There is a pavilion, observation deck and restrooms. There is no entrance fee but donations are accepted. Bicycles are not allowed on the trails. It was nice and breezy the afternoon we visited. Great creek exploration with cypress trees and wildlife.

A quiet reprieve
We visited the town of Boerne one day (pronounced Bur-nee) and came upon Cibolo Nature Center. We took a few short hiking trails there and saw Cibolo Creek. It was an interesting center. They hold various classes for the locals from environmental learnings to yoga and children's activities. There's room for improvement at Cibolo in terms of hiking trails and offering more to do there but it's a beautiful natural area and one that should definitely be preserved. We enjoyed seeing it.
