Big Bend is the largest and best preserve of Chihuahuan Desert
The Chihuahuan is one of 4 deserts in North America and the largest hot, desert. While 2/3 of it are in Mexico, the Chihuahuan dominates the land scape of West Texas as well as southern New Mexico where we spent a week visiting all 4 National Parks in the Chihuahuan. Big Bend is the best preserve of Chihuahuan desert and one of the things you come here to experience. Many will simply see its vastness and say boring. However, I found it amazing to experience whether hiking in Big Bend or driving across West Texas. There is a beauty in its vastness and remoteness and it is unlike anything else. Our group may not be looking to move full time to the Chihuahuan, but we thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent here and Big Bend was the best of it.

Desert is correct
This is really a great spot to travel to in the winter if you are not a fan of cold. Though the mornings were in the 40s it was in the 80's by mid afternoon. Lots of varieties of cactus and great rock formations. Plenty of trails to hike just bring your own water because there are not stores around.
