Nice Little Outdoor Excursion

The Chalk Ridge waterfalls are a nice little place to get outdoors in the Belton/Temple area! The hike isn’t too grueling and is mostly covered by trees. Getting down to the water is quite steep so it isn’t well suited for elderly. I as a young person even struggled. We went on a Saturday and it was pretty crowded. The falls are relatively small but the water is nice and cold! Great way too cool off and enjoy some nature!

    Amazing suspension bridge, beautiful waterfall
My husband and I ran across a gem of a park (Chalk Ridge Falls Park) while touring Stillhouse Hollow Lake. The park is just below the dam and it runs along the Lampasas River. The park is free, has 2 trails (red & blue) for a total of about 3 miles, an amazing suspension bridge, beautiful waterfalls and vault restrooms. The bridge and waterfalls are about 1 mile from the parking lot. There were many people swimming in the creek and waterfalls but it did not feel crowded. The suspension bridge and waterfalls were about 400 feet apart but are not visible from each other because of trees. The parking lot and roadside parking was nearly full when we arrived at 2:00 pm on a Saturday. This is a must see park if you are in the Belton area.

    Nice hike.
It was a very nice walk to the falls. The trail was well kept and the hike was not very difficult. Don't expect to see huge falls. Nice walk after having a good lunch in Belton
