After Many Years I Don't Believe We Will Be Going Back

We have a large group of friends that's gets together for 3 days every summer here. Over that last 4 years we have had a lot that will not come back due to declining conditions. Well after this year (unless something dramatic changes) I don't believe we will be going back. This is the second year in a row that they have "accidentally" double booked our RV spot for at least one night. They are getting paid double for the spot and expect the two bookers to work it out amongst themselves. The miniature golf course used to be a lot of fun for adults and kids, but the park can't even find time to blow the leaves off the course that would take them maybe 30 minutes. Now their are no lights on the course or at the playground. Leash rules are not enforced for dogs so several times we had random dogs do their business in our camping spot. No "quiet time" rules are observed anymore so we had a VERY loud group across from us hollering and singing at the top of their lungs till 2 am every night. This place could be a real jewel with a good clean up, enforcing some rules, and a few repairs. I just don't see it happening. I truly don't believe they care anymore.

A lot of TLC is needed here.
Our family, and friends spent the day at Chalk Bluff, relying on website, and telephone communications. Trail rides weren't being offered during our visit, and very little other activities were mentioned during our purchase of the all day pass. Driving towards the Boat Dock area, the sights of the rental cabins, and other buildings did not look well maintained. The river area was beautiful, where families were setting up their shade canopies, and families were enjoying the clean, clear river water. There were no picnic tables for visitors to use enjoy cooking out, or eating by the river. Most families brought their own outdoor furniture, and portable grills. Kayak rentals were $18 for all day, and inner tubes cost $8 for all day rental. Plenty of families took advantage of bringing their own water toys, (which I would recommend). The restrooms in the middle of the park were dark, and dirty. Stalls were lacking toilet paper, and locks on the stall doors, and one was out of order. Not inviting, just tolerable. After a full day on the river, we found, and fed the animals which was heartbreaking. The horses looked thin, and were having a hard time battling a lot of flies. The miniature horses looked like they faired better, but were fighting amongst themselves to get more food than the other. The goats, and other animals were spotted, but we didn't make time to see them up close. Our family friend with us is a rancher, and was disappointed with the appearance of the horses. It's apparent the Chalk Bluff Park is in a prime location, with potential to be a great destination. Maintenance, and committing time to take care of the important things would do wonders for this area. Staff we encountered were friendly, and the rivers swimming area is wonderful. The animals, and buildings were disappointing.
