Tremendously moving tribute to lives lost

Nestled in the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery, the Viet Nam Memorial is a moving, haunting tribute to the men and women who lost their lives in this conflict. The memorial and dedication ceremony were realized by the efforts of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1000 which raised $40,000 and provided the building materials for the monument’s construction, and which invested time and manpower to ensure its installation. It was opened after two years of planning by sculptor and Vietnam veteran Troy Kelley. The words that greet visitors at the black granite monument are “Welcome Home, Brothers & Sisters” emblazoned in a large font across the top. Accompanying the welcome are quotes from Vietnam veterans. The monument also has four-panels featuring the different armed forces seals, and bears a tribute section to POW/MIAs.

    It can be better.
A Big empty field with graves too close to each other. It felt as their been stacked to feet as many as possible in a long ran. It lacked character. I felt sad, because those souls deserved a better resting place. It can be better.
