Hikers paradise
Great desert hiking trails with few people unlike Big Bend National Park which can be quite crowded. Late March is an ideal time as temps are bearable and many cactus are starting to bloom. We did some variations of the East Contrabando Trail system which is right across from the Barton-Warnock visitor center. Day use pass required. Also hiked the West Contrabando-Dome-Fresno Divide trail which is a circular hike, ending where you started. Approximately 8 miles and rated moderate. Good for us older, in shape folks. Get out and go!

Beautiful Park!
The National Park was closed due to COVID, so we kept our trip and just went to the State Park instead. The interior was closed, but we still spent two amazing days here. We hiked Closed Canyon trail, the Hoodoos, and a few others and it was all beautiful. The drive through the park is stunning. We would definitely come back!
